Christmas Problem Solving Day

On Thursday 1st December the whole school took part in a Christmas Problem Solving Day. The children had great fun doing Christmas maths activities, in different classrooms, with different teachers.

Mrs Mould and Mrs Smith had lessons with Year 1 and Year 2 and they solved problems involving doubling and halving recipes and they then cooked some yummy biscuits.

Mrs Chester had lessons with Reception, who helped Santa’s Elves sort some presents and Year 2, who helped Santa load his sledge.

And Mr Rossiter and Mrs Preston had Reception who solved problems involving ordering Christmas numbers and Year 1 did code breaking: the children had to make a lovely paper chains once they had cracked the code.

Everyone really enjoyed it and the children improved their problem solving skills – we will definitely have another problem solving day soon. Watch this space!
